Can I has new work now?
Aug. 17th, 2007 01:33 amY'know, I might not mind being at this job so much if the new manager were, oh, open to communication. She's not. I've been forced to come to that conclusion tonight, after yet another example of my attempted communication to her being wholly ignored.
Last month, it was the saga of the broken spa chemical pipes. Day after day, I left notes saying the spa chemicals were wildly wrong and a pipe in the chemical area (where the chemicals are controlled and added to the water) was burst and leaking. Day after day, they were ignored until I finally left a verbal note with another employee (since, unlike the old manager, she doesn't bother to come in until I'm quite asleep at home). The message included the fact that I'd been informing her of the broken pipe for over a week, and I was sick of being ignored. Lo and behold, I come back to a note of "I'm sorry, I went and reread it and you did mention it every time."
Take that, bitch.
Last month was also my review, during which I mentioned my current problem here. See, I'm a severe arachnophobic. It's not fear. Fear is that I worry about falling in the pool when I walk around in the pool room cleaning and doing chemical tests. Phobia is panic attacks that keep me from going out one of the entries because of the spider population out there. I get the feeling she doesn't know the difference. Two days ago I left a note saying one of the outside trashes was full, but also covered in a spider colony (see aforementioned entry) so I couldn't actually take care of it myself. Tonight I found a note bitching about said trash and informing me it is my job and my job alone to empty the garbage outside. (Untrue; it's on all three checklists and she now has a copy of the other two with "empty outside trash" hilighted on them in her inbox. Doubt she'll look at them though.)
I responded to the note, "I mentioned this two days ago, please go back and read that checklist."
I have just now attempted to dump another of the garbages, at another entry. It too is covered in spiders. I did at least manage to open it, but the spider colony inside left me slamming it shut again and running away. I've informed her of the problem multiple times, but nothing's getting done, and I imagine it's because the checklists/communications are, once again, being ignored.
So how can I really take anything away from this other than that she's wholly uninterested in any form of communication?
Originally I was going to leave a lovely haiku about how the checklists aren't read (along with things like the status of the pool being "full of water" and the like); I think between the spider issue and the fact that I (accidentally) killed the phone tonight will have to leave my haiku for another night.
this shift sucks. I think I'll just phone it in for the rest of it, and spend as much time on CareerBuilder as I can, narrowing down my options so I can upload my resume once I'm back to my desktop tomorrow.
